Drug Uses
Atarax is used for relief of anxiety and tension motivated by psychoneurosis and organic disease states in which anxiety is manifested. It may be used for other conditions as directed by your physician.
How Taken
Atarax comes in tablets to take in by mouth. The regular daily dosage for adults is 50-100 mg. Children over 6 years should take Atarax 50-100mg every day in divided dosages. Daily dosage for children under 6 years of age is 50mg divided into several doses.
Additional Information
Atarax can cause giddiness. These effects may worsen if Atarax is taken with alcohol or certain other medications. Take Atarax with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you respond to this drug. If your symptoms do not improve or if they worsen, visit your doctor. Atarax should be used only by the patient for whom it has been ordered. Do not take less or more or take it more often than ordered by your doctor.
